The Business Leaders category showcases the contribution of the leaders of ethnic minority-led businesses to the UK economy, from SMEs to major listed companies. Our shortlist demonstrates exceptional leadership, driving forward strong business growth and innovation strategies, with people who are prominent role models within their sectors. Consider – 1. Personal leadership qualities 2. Growth/scale/financial metrics 3. Change, innovation or leadership projects 4. Details of any challenges faced and how these were overcome 5. Social impact.

Category Criteria: Emerging Talent

The Emerging Talent category covers “ones to watch” and Nextgen role models in business, commerce or third sector. This includes those leading a high performing new business which has been trading for less than 5 years, with an innovative edge and something to shout about. It recognises those who have exceeded their initial targets for growth and already show prominence within their sector or industry through a significant product/service, innovation and leadership. Consider – 1. Growth/scale/financial metrics 2. Innovation and impact on customers 3. Personal leadership qualities/overcoming challenges as a start-up 4. Industry recognition and awards 5. Social impact

Category Criteria: Food and Drink

Showcasing those individuals who champion the food and drink sector. Consider – 1. Growth/scale/financial metrics 2. Industry recognition and awards 3. Personal leadership qualities/overcoming recent challenges to the sector 4. ESG credentials 5. Product and service development<

Category Criteria: Inspiring Professionals

The role models in the workplace to inspire the next generation of professionals. Consider – 1. Professional engagements 2. Impact within the organisation and/or community/scale of outreach 3. Key workplace projects involved with over the last 12 months 4. Examples of mentoring 5. Future plans for professional and personal development

Category Criteria: Social Change makers, Community impact including politicians

These individuals are making a palpable impact and bringing about lasting social change. These dynamic individuals are either: • At the helm of innovative business models, bold movements, and charitable developments to a make a noteworthy social impact; or • The movers and shakers who shine a spotlight in the field of politics and diplomacy, representing strategic relations in the political arena. Consider – 1. Key projects and campaigns they have been involved with 2. Demonstrative positive social impact on their communities 3. Their role championing positive change for business 4. Their work in supporting intersectional, disadvantaged and underrepresented groups 5. Supporting a diverse workforce

Category Criteria: Thought Leaders

This is to recognise those for who an innovative way of thinking is the norm, from academia and healthcare to policy and innovation, these thought leaders have been championing closer collaborations through their relentless research and commitment.
